It's been a while, I know. But honestly, for some reason there hasn't been much of interest to report lately, and I'm not the kind that talks just to fill the silence. Well, some interesting stuff has finally turned up. First, the second trailer of the upcoming Bond flick Quantum of Solace has turned up. And my, my, I thought the first trailer looked pretty good; but this new trailer suggests that Quantum of Solace may just turn out to be one of the BEST Bond films, EVER (apart from the ludicrous title). I'm serious; go check it out and tell me I'm wrong.
Next up, another film, also with a somewhat silly title, starring the man who chose have been Bond. There's a certain gravity in Clive Owen that I've always enjoyed and admired, but unfortunately I can't say the same for a number of the films he starred in (e.g., Beyond Borders, King Arthur, Derailed, Shoot 'Em Up). Besides Owen, the other name associated with The International that caught my eye is Tom Tykwer. I totally dug Run, Lola, Run, The Princess and the Warrior, and Heaven (not too hotso about Perfume: The Story of a Murderer but I still loved the visuals). If Tykwer's previous works are anything to go by, The International is no Quantum of Solace; the trailer pretty much backs that up. But I still have hope that this may turn out to be an engaging and competent thriller. It better be, for Owen's sake at least.
